THE FERRY SCHEDULES to St. Thomas and the BVIs aren't really that confusing and they are for the most part very reliable. Full summer schedules are below.

PASSENGER FERRIES

Passenger ferries leave on the hour with summer schedule exceptions as noted.

From Cruz Bay to Red Hook:

Crossing takes 20 minutes.
Allow at least 60 min. via taxi to airport.

Departing from Cruz Bay (hourly*): 6am-11pm, plus 6:30am.
*No crossings at 7pm and 9pm.
Departing from Red Hook (hourly**): 8am -12am, plus 7:30am
**No crossings at 8pm and 10pm

From Cruz Bay to Charlotte Amalie:

Crossing takes 45 minutes.
Charlotte Amalie is 1 mile from the airport.

Departing from Cruz Bay: weekdays 7:15am and 3:45pm,
weekends 11:15am only.
Returning from Charlotte Amalie: weekdays 9am and 5:30pm,
weekends 1pm only.

CAR BARGES

There are several car barges that go between Enighed Pond (St. John) and Red Hook (St. Thomas).
Boats leave approximately every half hour. (Plan on arriving 15 minutes early.)
Be aware that you will have to back your own car onto the barge.

From Cruz Bay:
First boat - 6:00am (Mister B)
Last boat – 7pm (Capt.Vic, Mister B)

A Few Car Barge Tips:
St. John rental cars are not allowed on the barges to St. Thomas, and vice-versa.
Monday-Friday the "Mister B" and “The General” are more expensive than the other boats.
Buying a round-trip ticket may be less expensive but for your return trip you will (sometimes) have to wait to take the same boat you crossed on.
Our favorite barge is the Roanoke because it has on-board palm trees for shade and a concession stand!

BVI FERRY SCHEDULE

Note: You will need a passport if you are traveling to the BVIs!

To Tortola (Daily):

Departing from St. John:
8:30am, 11:30am Mon.- Sun.
3:30pm Mon. - Thurs.,Sat.
5pm Fri. only
4:30pm Sun. only

Returning From Tortola:
9:15am, 12:15 Mon.- Sun.
4:15pm Mon. - Thurs.,Sat.
5:30pm Friday only
5:15pm Sun. only

To Jost Van Dyke (Fri., Sat. & Sun. only):

Departing from St. John: 8:30am, 2:20pm
Returning from Jost Van Dyke: 9:15am, 3:00pm

To Virgin Gorda (Thursday and Sunday only):

Departing from St. John: 8:30am
Returning from Virgin Gorda: 3:00pm
